Mary Jane was working in a café when the Rhino flipped a car over in front of the shop.^[1]

On March 31, 2014, Shailene Woodley said she was unsure she wanted to be in the third film as Mary Jane, due to commitments with the Divergent film series.
Despite her cut role, a single cameo of Mary Jane remains in the film, being the ending sequence during the Rhino's bank robbery, showing the back of her head as she and the patrons of the diner she works at are blown back by the shockwaves of missiles fired by him.
Had the third film been made, screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and director Marc Webb had hoped that as Peter and Mary Jane's relationship developed throughout both the third film and the two-part spin-off film The Sinister Six, it would culminate in them getting married by The Amazing Spider-Man 4. Andrew Garfield and James Vanderbilt, writer of the first film, backed this heavily.
