Biography

Early Life

Peter was born to Richard and Mary Parker in 1995. In his early childhood years, Peter lived a very happy life with them, but was also very fussy about simple things, preferring sandwiches without crust, and to sleep with a little light on at night.

Orpahned

"You'll stay with Aunt May... and Uncle Ben for a little while."

"I wanna go with you."

- Peter's last conversation with his father.

One day, while playing hide-and-seek with his father, Peter found his father's office ransacked. Realizing something was wrong, he called out for his father, who surveyed the scene before frantically packing as Peter was carried away from the office by his mother. After his parents had what they needed, they drove Peter to his Uncle Ben and Aunt May's house. On the way, Peter noticed his father frantically fumbling with his briefcase and flipping through the notebook inside.

Once they had arrived, Peter stood and watched as his parents quietly talked with his aunt and uncle. His aunt noticed him watching and quietly smiled at him; however, Peter remained silent.

EmDXLxkW0AASAmZ

Peter's last moment with his father.

His father and mother soon came to him to say goodbye, with his father telling him that he would be staying with his aunt and uncle. When Peter protested, his father merely kissed him on the head before his mother crouched in front of him, stroking his hair and telling his aunt about how he liked to eat and sleep before she was ushered out by his father. Peter was simply told by his father to be good, and the pair left as his aunt held him gently.

Spider-Verse and Spider-Geddon

Spider-Geddon

Peter along other versions of Spider-Man.

Parker was later mentioned to have joined the Spider-Army to oppose the Inheritors on Earth-001. Wearing his original suit, he was seen fighting within the ranks of the Spider-Army against the Inheritors yet again on Earth-616.

Personality

"Peter Parker, if there's one thing you are, it's good. Anyone has a problem with that can talk to me."
May Parker[src]

Peter Parker is a goodhearted and courageous individual, displayed when he stopped Flash Thompson from bullying another student.

After gaining his powers, Parker decided to get justice for Thompson's bullying victims by humiliating him on the basketball court. However, His uncle Ben lectured him on his father's principle that if he could do good things for other people, then he would have a moral obligation to fulfill his duties as an intelligent individual and not exploit his advantage of having superhuman powers.

As Spider-Man, Parker offers exhibitions of "soft power," or moral righteousness through leadership, seen when he attempted to persuade Electro to accept his help and when he initially offered for The Rhino to turn himself in and cease his destructiveness. However, he can also be humorous and messes with criminals, toying with a car thief on his first official night as a vigilante. When he is not goofing around with felons, he is heroic and courageous; he chose to protect the innocent by rescuing a man's son, Jack, rather than chase down The Lizard. During his rescue of Jack, Peter took off his mask to calm him down and even let him wear it to inspire him. Similarly, he would later encourage Jorge's efforts as a science enthusiast and commended his bravery for standing up to the Rhino.

Parker's heroicness would ultimately be paid forward by other New Yorkers, who arranged cranes for him to swing on in order to reach the Lizard from activating the Ganali Device and infecting the city.

Parker would attempt to honor George Stacy's dying wish of not involving Gwen in his life so as to keep her safe, but he would come to realize that he had a responsibility to be there for her.

Parker often stutters, repeats himself and fumbles over his words, especially when speaking with Gwen Stacy or Harry Osborn.

Powers and abilities

"He was bitten by one of those things, and it worked. I don't know how, and I don't know why, but... he can do everything else a spider can, including self-heal."
Harry Osborn[src]

Powers

"Nice arm."
"It's just the wrist. It's just all in the wrist, buddy."

Spider-Man holding back a 37,000lb bus.

  • Superhuman strength: Peter's muscles are stronger and more efficient as a result of the spider's bite. He is shown to be able to easily overpower and lift up normal humans, pull apart guns, destroy his alarm clock by merely hitting it, shattering the backboard of a basketball hoop at school, and doing the same to his front door glass panel when he slammed the door shut, swing at high velocities on a rope or web, hold a van with one hand while hanging from a web, throw a football hard enough to dent a goalpost, exert enough force to prevent a bus from crashing into two bystanders, rip a fire hydrant out of the ground with his webbing, and catch a falling police car (as well as other cars with his webbing). He has restrained The Lizard, swing around and weaponize a manhole cover, and poke a hole in his own webbing (which is 10 times the tensile strength of steel and could pull jets). His strength also allows him to jump higher and farther than a normal human, easily capable of jumping from one building over a street to the next. Spider-Man's strength is great enough to lift 18.5 tons.[1]

Spider-Man withstanding Electro's attacks.

  • Superhuman durability: As a result of his mutation, Peter's muscles and flesh are tougher than a normal human. He was capable of surviving fall from hundreds of feet in the air, hit by a taser, and smashed into brick walls with only minimal injuries and discomfort.
  • Superhuman speed: He can run far faster than a regular human and accelerating vehicles.
  • Superhuman agility: Due to his incredible agility and flexibility Peter is extremely acrobatic and is able to perform high jumps, somersaults, flips and the like.
  • Superhuman stamina: Spider-Man has a greater stamina than a normal human meaning he can perform physical activities for an extended period.
"Good reflexes."
Curt Connors[src]
SpiderManDodgesBullet

Spider-Man dodging a bullet at close range.

  • Superhuman reflexes: Peter's reflexes operate so fast that with the assistance of his Spider-Sense, he is able to easily evade gunfire even from close range. His reflexes are roughly 35 times faster than that of a regular human.
  • Superhuman equilibrium: Peter is able to perfectly balance on any object no matter how small or narrow with little effort even with two fingers.
"Just shake it off, it's just your bones, your muscles, and your organs."
―Spider-Man, recovering from his battle against Electro[src]
  • Regenerative healing factor: Peter's metabolism is greater thus allowing him to rapidly heal faster than a normal human. He may also be more immune to toxins and alcohol and drugs or could rapidly lose their effects quicker. It is unknown if his healing is fast enough to affect his aging. He healed from the slashes that were on his chest and a gunshot wound to his leg without medical attention.
  • Superhuman senses: His senses appear to be heightened, especially when used in conjunction with his spider-sense. His sight, however, appeared to be unchanged after the spider bite, as he still had to use his glasses, he later presumably stops wearing contacts throughout most of the first film. He has however used vibrations to sense potential enemies much like most real spiders.
    • Spider-Sense: A tingling sensation in Peter's skull warns him of danger, where it is coming from and how to avoid it noted by a subtle "thunk" that sounds like a combination of someone hitting a bass drum once immediately followed by a high pitched bell ringing sound. It seems likely that the stronger the tingling, the more imminent and threatening the danger is and that Peter can ignore it through intense concentration, and if he is exhausted or distracted it can lose some effectiveness. This power is passive and not fully controlled by Peter.
    • Enhanced hearing: Peter is able to hear any danger, via spider sense while he'll hear that it also may warn him of any danger.
Amazing Spider-man 07

Parker glimpsing his new powers.

  • Wall-crawling: Although not explained at all, it's most likely like his mainstream and Ultimate counterparts where Spider-Man's exposure to the mutated spider venom induced a cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction between molecular boundary layers. This overcomes the outer electron shell's normal behavior of mutual repulsion with other outer electron shells and permits the tremendous potential for electron attraction to prevail. The mentally controlled sub-atomic particle responsible for this has yet to be identified. This ability to affect the attraction between surfaces is so far limited to Spider-Man's body and another object, with an upper limit of several tons per finger. This ability appears to be consciously used. Although can be activated by stress or altered states of consciousness as seen twice when he awakens from slumber.

Abilities

"He's one of Midtown Science's best and brightest."
Gwendolyne Stacy[src]
  • Genius-level intelligence: Peter is very smart, specifically in engineering, chemistry and physics. He is smart enough to design a computer-activated door lock, perfect his father's webbing formula and to construct working mechanical web-shooters. He also apparently solves a formula that is key to creating the formula that mutates Curt Connors into the Lizard. He also had a perfectly-solved Rubik's Cube on his desk.
  • Skilled combatant: Using a mixture of his superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, equilibrium, Spider-Sense, and Web-Shooters, Peter is able to utilize a devastating acrobatic fighting style that makes him a formidable opponent and allowed him to easily take down thugs, cops and even the more physically powerful Lizard. His fighting style also appears to incorporate professional wrestling techniques, as seen when he used a Frankensteiner on a car thief.
  • Skilled acrobat: Due to his superhuman physical abilities, Peter easily surpasses normal acrobats and is able to perform somersaults, flips, spins, cartwheels, etc.
  • Skateboarding: Before the genetically-altered spider bite, Peter is a very skilled skateboarder and skated everywhere he went.

Equipment

  • Web-Shooters: After getting his powers, he mysteriously bought Oscorp's Bio-Cable and incorporated the cartridges into his homemade web-shooters.
    • Web fluid: The web fluid, developed by Oscorp, is a shear-thinning liquid, virtually solid until a shearing force is applied to it, rendering it fluid, whose exact formula remains unknown, but originated from the very enhanced spiders that bit him. The web line’s tensile strength is estimated to be 120 pounds per square millimeter of a cross-section.

Parker in his Spider-Man suit

  • Spider-Man suits: Using his knitting skills, Peter crafts a suit, made from mostly spandex, that would allow him to be mobile but would keep his identity hidden. However, since the suit is mostly made from spandex, it does not offer much in terms of protection as it can easily be torn by any type of sharp object that comes in contact with it.

Trivia

  • "With great power comes great responsibility" is a very famous quote from the Spider-Man franchise, first introduced by the narrator in Spider-Man's debut issue of Amazing Fantasy. This line is often quoted in the video game but is not heard in the film.
  • Only four people know Spider-Man's identity; Curt Connors, Gwen Stacy, George Stacy, and Harry Osborn.
    • Ironically these people have either died over the course of the film series or are (currently) imprisoned.
  • Peter's Osphone number is [[1]], as revealed in Chapter 3 of the video game when Spider-Man tells Whitney Chang his phone number. Since 212 is Manhattan's area code, it is likely Peter's full Osphone number is [[2]].
  • Parker is a fan of the film Rear Window, as seen by a poster in his room.

Behind the scenes

  • The Spider-Man suit that Peter wears in the first movie and game is unlike any other Spider-Man suit seen before, although similar to his classic red and blue.
    • In The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man wears a suit made especially for the film that includes Web-Shooters that are not modeled on any previous design.
    • Marc Webb has stated that Spider-Man's suit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will have various aesthetic changes to make the suit look similar to the original Spider-Man suit, including "making the eyes bigger".[2]
      • In February 2013, Webb revealed Spider-Man's new suit.
  • In February 2015, it was revealed that Andrew Garfield was dropped from the role of Spider-Man in favor for another reboot as Sony are collaborating with Marvel Studios to involve the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man.
  • Spider-man first symbol was created in 1966 by John Romita. Since than it changes a lot of times. However, the designers returned to his hero mascot natural shape.
