The game begins with a flashback scene of the first Spidey film set two years back, with Peter Parker walking out of a convenience store. The store clerk rushes by, tells Peter he has been robbed and asks for help chasing the criminal. Peter ignores him stating "Not my problem." and walks away to take a subway train to return home. Meanwhile, Uncle Ben tries to look for Peter on the city streets and runs into the thief from the convenience store and tries to stop him, but ends up getting shot and dies. Peter hears the gunshot and runs to the location and finds out its his Uncle Ben dead. Peter realizes he should have stopped the thief the first chance he had and keeps on crying. Sometime during the story, Peter narrates his thoughts on Uncle Ben and says "Uncle Ben was my rock where I couldn't count on anything. The night my parents disappeared. Where a genetically modified spider bite turned me into something... New. But now Uncle Ben was gone. For his memory... for Aunt May's... to make up for not stopping his killer when I should have... I had to become a man. Spider-Man. And I've done some good, put away a lot of bad guys. But I haven't found the man who killed Uncle Ben. Just one more empty space in a life full of them."

Spider-Man arrives at Schultz's location, where his thugs are battling with Russian criminals over weapons. Spider-Man stops the gang fight and subdues Schultz, who identifies Uncle Ben's killer as Dennis Carradine and that he obtains weapons for clients. He then uses a flashbang to escape. While trying to track down Carradine, Spider-Man stops some car thieves and rescues his friend Stan Lee from a burning building. Peter later heads to the comic store to check up on Stan where he apologizes for what happened to his apartment. Spider-Man eventually finds Carradine and his thugs talking to each other. unfortunately, Carradine sees Spidey and decides to escape with his thugs by robbing a car and taking the driver hostage. Spider-Man chases Carradine's car and saves the woman from him and continues to follow the car. The car gets little far away but Spider-Man finally catches up. By the time he gets there, he finds the car on fire but with no one in it. Peter thinks Carradine and his thugs escaped into an alleyway, where he hears a scream and runs towards it, where he finds Carradine and his thugs murdered and buried under a pile of trash bags, and finds graffiti on the wall reading "CK" in blood. Based on the initials, the police refer to CK as "The Carnage Killer".

Peter then returns home after what he sees, and wonders if he should be happy or sad Carradine is gone. Aunt May tells Peter that the Daily Bugle News reporter Whitney Chang says that Dennis Carradine was been murdered, and that his leader, Herman Shultz and the Russian Mob has broken into OsCorp tower and that its mission is to steal OsCorp technology to protect themselves from the "Carnage Killer". Spider-Man stops the Mob and saves all OsCorp scientists, including Max Dillion. Later, Spider-Man finds Shultz who has stolen a "Seismic Harness Construction Resource" and now calls himself the "Shocker". Spider-Man beats Shocker but decides to keep the seismic blaster to upgrade his webbing. After the incident, OsCorp CEO Harry Osborn, and Wilson Fisk announce that their companies are working together to fund the Enhanced Crime Task Force, a privatized police force meant to contain criminals and Spider-Man. When Wilson Fisk offers to take OsCorp off of Harry's hands, Harry rebuffs him. Wilson Fisk comments that he'll wait until Harry dies from the disease that killed his father Norman Osborn. While Spider-Man is trying to stop a fight between street thugs and Russian Mobsters in Central Park, he finds a note on a bound street thug from someone called "Kraven the Hunter" offering him help. After stopping a shootout, Spider-Man meets Kraven who offers to train Spider-Man, telling him to meet at his loft. Spider-Man considers the pros and cons of the situation and visits the loft as Peter, acting as though he were interviewing Kraven for the Daily Bugle. Kraven reveals that he came to New York to hunt OsCorp's cross-species. After killing all of them, he chose to stay in the city and catch criminals.

Spider-Man decides to meet Kraven, who wants to make Spider-Man a hunter as he has no son of his own. He offers to work together with Spider-Man to find the "Carnage Killer" and shows him how to catch bigger criminals. Trailing lesser Russian thugs into an underground hideout, Spider-Man finds a map containing the locations of where the Russian Mob operatives were killed by the "Carnage Killer" and a poster for an anti-crime fundraiser held by Wilson Fisk. Realizing that the Russian Mob plans to assassinate Fisk there, Spider-Man heads to the location but realizes he can't go in without an invitation and then finds out he can go in with a reporter and decides for Whitney Chang to back him up.
<After Shultz escapes, Spider-Man decides to track down Carradine. On the way, Spider-Man stops some car thieves and rescues a man named Stan from a burning building. Arriving at the fundraiser, Peter meets up with his old friend Harry Osborn (who hasn't seen him for 10 years). Later, Peter changes into Spider-Man and quietly subdues the Russian Mobsters. He then changes back into Peter and encounters Felicia at the bar. As Fisk arrives at the fundraiser, Peter speaks with him to obtain info about his views on Spider-Man, the "Carnage Killer", and the Russian Mob's activities. After exiting the theater, Peter Parker changes into Spider-Man and finds the Russian Mob's hideout and destroys their high-tech weapons. Spider-Man hears that the Russian Mobsters have caught the "Carnage Killer" and finds a way to the hangar where he is being held. Spider-Man works to save a hostage who the Russian Mob mistook for being the "Carnage Killer." After saving the hostage, Spider-Man manages to get a description of the real "Carnage Killer". The next day, using the description and the map, Spider-Man and Kraven manage to track him down. They find him threatening the driver of a drive-by shooting and Spider-Man ends up saving the driver and the killer reveals himself as Cletus Kasady. Spider-Man and Kasady fight until Kasady is defeated. Kraven reveals he is trying to unleash the killer instinct in Spider-Man, expecting him to kill Kasady. When Spider-Man refuses, Kraven leaves disappointed. Kasady is apprehended by the police and taken to Ravencroft where he meets Harry Osborn's assistant Donald Menken.
He also learns that Shultz' gang and the Russian Mobsters have broken into OsCorp Tower. After activating the cooling systems for the core at OsCorp Tower, Spider-Man works to break up the fights between Shultz' gang and the Russian criminals. Spider-Man faces off with Schultz who has stolen OsCorp gear called the Seismic Harness Construction Resource and taken the name "The Shocker." Spider-Man defeats the Shocker who reveals that the gangs (examples being the Russian Mobsters, Hammerhead's crew, and Mister Negative's men) are all in fear of the "Carnage Killer" and are at war. Spider-Man leaves Shultz to be arrested by the police and leaves.

Following the defeat of the Russian Mob and Schultz's gang, someone called the "Kingpin" begins filling in the power vacuum. Spider-Man hears of a break-in at the Kane Museum, supposedly perpetrated by him, and heads there, taking down the real criminals. Black Cat then shows up, sporting super-speed, and fights Spider-Man. Upon being defeated by Spider-Man, Black Cat stated that she was transferred to Ravencroft until she was freed by Kingpin who had his doctors do a cross-species experiment in exchange for her services. Denying Spider-Man's help to get her into Witness Protection, Black Cat escapes. The next day, Peter makes his way to Harry's apartment in order to receive information on Wilson Fisk, who he believes to be the Kingpin. Peter and Harry find out that Fisk used OsCorp's money to pay Kraven. Harry also tells Peter that he is dying and asks him for Spider-Man's help, believing his blood can help him with a cure. Peter visits Harry as Spider-Man and tells him that he can't give him his blood to avoid another incident like the Lizard incident and needs time to research his blood, which angers Harry. After the discussion, Spider-Man makes his way to Kraven's loft to confront him. While there, he finds a secret room where he discovers that Kraven wants to hunt him before being tranquilized by Kraven. Kraven takes Spider-Man to Central Park and states that he trained him in order to make Spider-Man a worthy opponent. Spider-Man defeats Kraven and coerces info from him on how to get to Kingpin.
After the incident at OsCorp Tower, OsCorp CEO Harry Osborn, and Wilson Fisk make an announcement that their companies are working together to fund a privatized police force called the Enhanced Crime Task Force meant to contain criminals like Shultz and the vigilante Spider-Man. When Wilson Fisk offers to take OsCorp off of Harry's hands, Harry tells him that the answer is still no. Wilson Fisk comments that he'll wait until Harry dies from the disease that killed his father Norman Osborn. Spider-Man had to work to keep the peace while evading detection from the Enhanced Crime Task Force. Spider-Man then rescues more people from a burning building. Spider-Man then assists the police in a car chase in order to rescue a civilian hostage. While Spider-Man is trying to stop a fight between street thugs and Russian Mobsters in Central Park, he finds a note on a bound street thug from someone called "Kraven the Hunter" offering him help. Spider-Man investigates a shooting at a bus station where fights some street thugs. After taking down a street bruth, Spider-Man meets Kraven the Hunter who offers to train Spider-Man and tells Spider-Man to meet him at his loft. Peter Parker gets a call from J. Jonah Jameson about why he didn't get any pictures from the OsCorp/Fisk press conference. Peter Parker tells J. Jonah Jameson that he had school where J. Jonah Jameson states that a press pass was wasted on him. After defeating some street thugs, Spider-Man considers the pros and cons of the situation and enters the loft as Peter Parker acting as though he were interviewing Kraven for the Daily Bugle. When Peter stated that he had seen Kraven the Hunter on TV take down a Siberian Tiger with his bare hands without hurting it, Kraven the Hunter stated that he was able to relocate it from the nearby village without hurting it. Kraven reveals that he came to New York to hunt the cross-species OsCorp made. After killing all the cross-species, Kraven the Hunter stayed in the city and started catching criminals. He also gives Peter some insight on why he does things and on the criminals of the city. Kraven the Hunter leaves Peter alone talking to someone on the phone about weapons where he wants tranquilizer darts. Peter Parker then takes pictures of three interesting objects. After finishing his call, Kraven the Hunter takes Peter Parker to show him his trophies of the cross-species Scorpion, Iguana, and Nattie after they escaped and were hunted by Kraven the Hunter who killed them in a comibination of saving their victims and self-defense.

Spider-Man then proceeds to fight the Enhanced Crime Task Force soldiers and street thugs before entering the hideout and confronting Kingpin. Spider-Man defeats Kingpin and begins hacking his computer for incriminating evidence. However, Max Dillon, who calls himself Electro, begins to cause havoc in Manhattan, forcing Spider-Man to leave. Kingpin states that any evidence that Spider-Man plans to find will be gone by the time he returns. Spider-Man arrives in Manhattan to face Electro, who tells him that he was experimented on in Ravencroft. He blames Spider-Man for not saving him and letting them hurt him since they were "partners". Spider-Man tries to calm Electro down, but Electro then goes into a rage and attacks Spider-Man which leads to a fight across New York. Spider-Man eventually defeats Electro.
At home, Peter Parker gets a call from Felicia Hardy (who now goes by the name of Black Cat) after she stole the number for Spider-Man from Whitney Chang. Black Cat states that crime is going up and suggests that she and Spider-Man "chase each other out of town." After thwarting some petty crime, Spider-Man goes to confront Kraven the Hunter who wants to make Spider-Man a hunter since Kraven the Hunter has no son of his own. When Kraven the Hunter offers to work together with Spider-Man to find the "Carnage Killer," Spider-Man states that he prefers to operate on his own. Kraven the Hunter tells Spider-Man where the warehouse that the Russians are storing stolen OsCorp tech there. Spider-Man targets the lesser Russian Thugs in order to trail them. Upon getting a photo of OsCorp tech, Spider-Man traces the van carrying the OsCorp tech to an underground hideout. Spider-Man finds a map containing the locations of where the Russian Mob operatives were killed by the "Carnage Killer" and snaps a picture of it. While moving through the hideout without being seen, Spider-Man deciphers the stolen OsCorp technology and then engages a Russian Speedy. After defeating the Russian Speedy, Spider-Man sends the picture of the map of the areas where the "Carnage Killer" struck to Kraven the Hunter. Then Spider-Man sends a flier for an anti-crime fundraiser held by Wilson Fisk. Kraven the Hunter tells Spider-Man that he must go to the location of the fundraiser and stop the Russian Mob.

Arriving at the theater where the fundraiser is being held, Spider-Man enters as Peter Parker where he meets up with Whitney Chang and Harry Osborn. After talking to Harry Osborn on the rumors about Wilson Fisk, Peter Parker follows a suspicious waiter and then changes into Spider-Man. After saving the waiters from the Russian Mobsters, Spider-Man pursues a Russian Mob operative until he is attacked by a Russian Brute and some Russian Mobsters. Afterwards, Spider-Man changes back into Peter Parker where he eavesdrops on some of the fundraiser guests where he encounters Felicia Hardy at the bar. As Wilson Fisk arrives at the fundraiser, Peter Parker goes to speak to Wilson Fisk where he mentions about the Russian Mobsters that were tied up downstairs. Wilson Fisk states that the criminals "won't get away with it" and that the Enhanced Crime Task Force will catch them. Peter Parker then gets info from Wilson Fisk about his thing against Spider-Man, about how hard it is to find the "Carnage Killer," and about the Russian Mob activities. After exiting the theater, Peter Parker changes into Spider-Man in order to find the Russian Mob's hideout. Spider-Man follows a truck being used by the Russian Mobsters to their hideout where he destroys their high-tech weapons while taking out the Russian Mobsters. Spider-Man hears that the Russian Mobsters have caught the "Carnage Killer" and finds a way to the hangar where he is being held. Spider-Man works to save a hostage who the Russian Mob suspects of being the "Carnage Killer." Afterward, reports start to come in from the police that the RavenCroft Institute is under attack because of riots. Spider-Man heads to investigate, and it is revealed by Donald Menken that Ravencroft experimented on Cletus Kasady with a symbiotic red liquid code-named Venom (which was meant to cure Norman Osborn's disease). Spider-Man rescues all the staff stuck in the riot and heads over to find Cletus, who has morphed inmates with the symbiote. The two fight and Cletus is overwhelmed by the symbiote and dubs himself Carnage. The two continue fighting and the battle ends with the symbiote getting burned, and Cletus is taken to the remaining custody at the prison.
The next day, Spider-Man gives Kraven the Hunter a description of the "Carnage Killer" and heads to the location that Kraven the Hunter will meet him at. Upon meeting up with Kraven, they find him being threatened by Cletus Kasady who was threatening the driver of a drive-by shooter. Spider-Man ends up intervening where Cletus states that his victims were killers. After Spider-Man defeats Cletus Kasady, Kraven the Hunter states that he is trying to unleash the killer instinct in Spider-Man. When Spider-Man claims that this is not who he wants to be, Kraven the Hunter states that there will be a greater predator than Spider-Man. Cletus Kasady is apprehended by the police and taken to Ravencroft where he meets Donald Menken.

Sometime later, Peter visits Stan Lee again to talk about Harry Osborn and Uncle Ben. Stan encourages Peter to be the man that Uncle Ben wanted him to grow into the man he raised him to be, and Ben knew what a tough place the world is and that it needs heroes and that Peter is one of those heroes. Peter says that now he can prove to his Uncle Ben and everyone else, and Stan says his famous catchphrase "Nuff Said!". Later, Peter dresses as Spider-Man and swings around the city to save the day.
Following the increase in criminal activity involving the gang war and Spider-Man, the Enhanced Crime Task Force goes into Phase II of the Suppression Initiative. Whitney Chang calls Spider-Man telling him to watch out for the Enhanced Crime Task Force.

In a post-credits scene, Kingpin is on the phone with the Mayor of Manhattan about the Harry Osborn/Green Goblin incident and states that he will continue to finance the Enhanced Crime Task Force himself. After the call, Kingpin speaks to Chameleon, who has been posing as Donald Menken all along. When Chameleon asks what their next plan is, Kingpin states that "the real work begins."
The next day, Spider-Man makes his way to Harry Osborn's apartment in order to get some info on Wilson Fisk. Peter Parker meets with Harry Osborn where Peter Parker voices his opinion that Wilson Fisk is the Kingpin. They find info that Wilson Fisk is using OsCorp's money to pay Kraven the Hunter. Harry also tells Peter about his disease that Norman Osborn was working on when he was still alive, it's relation to the cross-species experiments, and info on the body armor of the Enhanced Crime Task Force. Spider-Man fights some crimes in Manhattan and then returns to Harry Osborn's apartment. Upon landing on Harry Osborn's limousine, Spider-Man tells Harry that he can't give him his blood to evade a repeat of the Lizard incident. After the discussion, Spider-Man makes his way to Kraven the Hunter's loft to get some answers on his connections with Kingpin. Upon entering Kraven the Hunter's loft, Spider-Man finds a secret room where he discovers that Kraven the Hunter wants to hunt Spider-Man. Kraven the Hunter then tranquilizes Spider-Man and takes him to Central Park where Kraven the Hunter stated that Spider-Man eliminated Kingpin's rivals. In order to see if Spider-Man would make a possible worthy opponent, Kraven the Hunter starts to hunt Spider-Man. During the fight, Kraven the Hunter stated that he used Spider-Man to eliminate Kingpin's rivals and that Cletus Kasady threatening a drive-by shooter's driver was to see if Spider-Man can spill blood. Spider-Man then defeats Kraven the Hunter and demands to know how to get to Kingpin. Kraven the Hunter tells Spider-Man that Kingpin is involved with the Ravencroft patients in order to fund Ravencroft and how to get past the security system. Spider-Man then webs up Kraven the Hunter and heads to Fisk Tower.

Arriving at Fisk Tower, Spider-Man infiltrates one of the trucks and rides it to Kingpin's hideout. Spider-Man then proceeds to fight the Enhanced Crime Task Force soldiers and street thugs before entering Kingpin's safe house and confronting Kingpin. Spider-Man defeats Kingpin where it is revealed that he paid Kraven the Hunter as a security consultant and released Cletus Kasady. Before Spider-Man can find incriminating evidence to expose Kingpin, Max Dillon breaks free from his confinement as Electro and causes havok in Manhattan. As Spider-Man leaves, Kingpin states that any evidence that Spider-Man plans to find will be gone by the time he returns. Some time later, Peter Parker visits Stan again to talk about Uncle Ben when Stan encourages Peter to be the man that Uncle Ben wanted him to grow into.

In the post-credits, Kingpin is on the phone with the Mayor of Manhattan about the Green Goblin incident and that he will continue to finance the Enhanced Crime Task Force himself. **Curiously, despite Kraven managing to hunt and kill three of the last, it is unknown what happened to Rhino and Vermin since they aren't stuffed and mounted in the trophy room with the other Cross-Species.

*Sometimes when web-swinging in New York Spider-Man will ponder out loud what the problem is with hiring minions. This a reference to ''The Superior Spider-Man ''where Spider-Man, with Doctor Octopus controlling his body, eventually hires minions to help him fight crime in the city.
  +
*The real-life Spider-Man comics actually exist in this universe, and most of the costumes in the game are based on different Spider-Man costumes from different Spider-Man comics; in the description for each costume Peter will reference the Spider-Man comic the costume highlighted is from, such as ''Ultimate Spider-Man'' and ''Scarlet Spider'', however Hornet and Ricochet, other superhero identities Peter Parker used in the comics for a brief time and costumes in this game, are comic book characters in this universe instead of two separate superhero identities.

*During the break-in on Oscorp Peter mentions to Aunt May that Gwen Stacy works there, This is the only time in the game Gwen is mentioned and she isn't seen in the game likely to avoid spoiling the end of the film which the last game accidentally spoiled due to releasing before the film. However, Gwen is mentioned a few times in the descriptions of some of Spider-Man's suits such as the TASM2 suit the Electro-Proof suit and the first amazing spiderman suit as it is stated they "Broke Up".

*In the last game, Peter wasn't seen at all except for when he's in costume. In this game he can be seen fully, however unlike Harry Osborn or Max Dillon being modeled after their actors Peter isn't modeled at all after Andrew Garfield, instead, he's modeled to look like how he looks in the comic books.
  +
*Despite being a movie tie in of the film, the game's plot actually doesn't have anything to do with the film, such as Electro, the main villain of the film and an important character only having two appearances in the whole game; the level where, as Max Dillon, he is saved by Spider-Man from the Russian mob and the boss fight as Electro. His role as one of the main villains is shifted over to Carnage instead.

*After stopping crime and [[Whitney Chang]], via the [[Daily Bugle]] news, reports on Spider-Man saving the day notice on the bottom yellow bar with moving text; on the yellow bar are Easter eggs referencing the Marvel Universe. Listed below are a number of them:
  +
1. Dr. Michael Morbius: "The Living Vampire" is referenced in the DB news which states that "Nobel prize winner Dr. Michael Morbius has a rare illness" this is a clear reference the blood disease that would force Morbius to try and cure himself, only to end up turning him into a vampire like-creature.
  +
  +
2. The Man-Thing/Groot: In the yellow bar there is a message stating "Man claims tree has face" this could be referencing The Man-Thing as he looks eerily like a tree due to the moss and bark like body. However since there are more than one Marvel character who has the appearance of a tree (the tree monster from the old man thing comics or as the other possibility states) the reference could actually be Groot of the Guardians Of The Galaxy as he is pretty much a tree with a face and body who can only say " I AM GROOT!"
  +
  +
3.Grizzly: This Bronze Age Spider-Man villain is mentioned in the text "Man in killer bear costume robbing a bank" referencing the first time he fought Spider-Man.
  +
  +
4. Dracula: In the yellow bar one of the texts will read "Tomb of Dracula open to the public" this is an obvious reference to the Marvel comic series Tomb Of Dracula and its main character Dracula.
  +
  +
5. Devil Dinosaur: In the yellow bar there is a piece of text saying "Doctor maps out dinosaur DNA" referencing Devil Dinosaur and his friend Moon Boy.
  +
  +
6. Swarm: In the text in the yellow bar there is a line saying " large group of deadly killer bees on course for Germany" this references Swarm, a Marvel villain whose skin is made out of sentient bees which he can control freely.

*While visiting Stan's Comic store at any time during free roam look behind the counter Stan stands behind; upon close study you'll notice most of the action figures are wearing suits that can be unlocked in the game or suits that are only available to download, these action figures include Spider-Man 2099, Ricochet, Classic Black Suit Spider-Man (Not the New Black suit from the first game or the Spider-Man 3 Black Suit) Electro-Proof, New Scarlet Spider (Kaine Parker) and Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man to name a few.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a video game tie in based on the movie of the same name. It is centered around Spider-Man searching for Uncle Ben's killer.

Story

Two years later, Spider-Man is still searching for Uncle Ben's killer. While investigating a group of street thugs for leads, his cover is blown by a falling obstacle caused by Felicia Hardy (Who has escaped from Beloit). After subduing the street thugs, he questions them regarding the killer. One of the street thugs tells him that the man works for Herman Schultz, an illegal weapons smuggler.

At home, Peter receives a call from Felicia (who now goes by the name of Black Cat), who stole Whitney Chang's phone. She states that the crime rate is going up and that Spider-Man is in danger.

Arriving at Fisk Tower, Spider-Man infiltrates one of the trucks and rides it to Kingpin's hideout.

Meanwhile, Harry Osborn discovers and injects himself with Richard Parker's spider venom and starts to cause havoc in the OsCorp building prompting Spider-Man to investigate. Spider-Man encounters a now insane and grotesque Harry who dubs himself the "Green Goblin". Spider-Man regrettably defeats his former best friend.

Afterward, reports start to come in from the police that the RavenCroft Institute is under attack because of riots.

Production

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game was announced at the NYC Comic Con 2013. It is currently being developed by Beenox Studios. Beenox has announced that some elements from the last game will carry over to this one, but it has not been specified at this point in time. Also, Beenox has announced that Spidey's webs will now stick to the sides of buildings, restricting webbing over Central Park. In addition to all this, combat will be greatly enhanced and the open-world will be enlarged as well.

The game will retain its open-world gameplay of previous entries in the franchise. The game's free roam area will be more expansive and detailed than that of the previous game's, and most of the story will take place in the open world. In addition to advanced combat and upgrades, there will be different types of webbing (example, the player can use different webbings to freeze or blow up something on impact), and web-slinging will be similar to that of Spider-Man 2. The 3DS version of the game will not have the free-roaming aspect that is in the console versions. The PS4 version can be played on the PS Vita using remote play, with optimized controls.

Morality is used in a new system known as "Hero or Menace" where players will be rewarded for stopping crimes or punished for not consistently doing so or not responding. The player will be able to upgrade Spider-Man's web shooters. During certain sections of the game, the player will control Spider-Man's alter ego Peter Parker and walk around doing detective work.

Furthermore, the city has been expanded to incorporate unique districts that allow for more open space to the player. The crimes from the first game have been expanded on, but it also includes new crimes such as arson and hostage situations. The crimes also progress dynamically, such as fighting criminals on the street then chasing one that gets away in a vehicle. Unlike the previous game, there will be constant random side activities. Additionally, the use of the Web-Rush system returns and has been expanded on from the previous game, now allowing for critical strikes, dodges, and rolls. There are also new upgrades and abilities introduced into the game, some of which have been expanded on from the previous game.

  • Carnage acts as the final enemy rather than the Rhino.
  • After stopping crime and Whitney Chang, via the Daily Bugle news, reports on Spider-Man saving the day notice on the bottom yellow bar with moving text; on the yellow bar are Easter eggs referencing the Marvel Universe. Listed below are a number of them:

3.Grizzly: This Bronze Age Spider-Man villain is mentioned in the text "Man in killer bear costume robbing a bank" referencing the first time he fought Spider-Man.

4. Dracula: In the yellow bar one of the texts will read "Tomb of Dracula open to the public" this is an obvious reference to the Marvel comic series Tomb Of Dracula and its main character Dracula.

5. Devil Dinosaur: In the yellow bar there is a piece of text saying "Doctor maps out dinosaur DNA" referencing Devil Dinosaur and his friend Moon Boy.

6. Swarm: In the text in the yellow bar there is a line saying " large group of deadly killer bees on course for Germany" this references Swarm, a Marvel villain whose skin is made out of sentient bees which he can control freely.

  • While visiting Stan's Comic store at any time during free roam look behind the counter Stan stands behind; upon close study you'll notice most of the action figures are wearing suits that can be unlocked in the game or suits that are only available to download, these action figures include Spider-Man 2099, Ricochet, Classic Black Suit Spider-Man (Not the New Black suit from the first game or the Spider-Man 3 Black Suit) Electro-Proof, New Scarlet Spider (Kaine Parker) and Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man to name a few.
  • Ironically at the beginning of this game, Peter is still looking for the man who shot his uncle, while in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the film which the game is loosely based on never mentions or shows if Peter is still searching for the shooter.
  • Harry's armor differs from the movie, as it doesn't heal the user. Instead, Harry explains it is simply military-grade armor which can help him get around.
